Dr. Charles Wong, MD CCFP-EM
Medical Director and front-line caregiver
"As a hospital ER doctor, I see what happens when caregivers don't have proper support, incentives, and protections. At HomeFree, every caregiver is a highly valued part of our team, because we know that we cannot be successful unless every member of our team feels valued and supported. We take care of our staff in the way we expect ourselves to be taken care of. HomeFree is the most positive, uplifting, and effective healthcare organization I have.”
As caregivers ourselves, we know that our team is our most important asset

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from our applicants.
What qualifications do I need?

We welcome caregivers with various backgrounds. Ideally, you have a Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate or higher medical training, First Aid/CPR certification, and caregiving experience. However, if you're compassionate, reliable, and willing to learn, we provide training and support. Internationally trained healthcare professionals (LPNs, RNs) are especially welcome.

Do I need to speak multiple languages?

English is required, but additional languages are a valuable asset. Many of our clients speak Cantonese, Spanish, French, or German. If you're multilingual, please let us know in your application.

What's the pay range?

We believe in paying top-tier wages for top-tier talent. Our starting rates are $25.00/hour for Healthcare Aides (HCA) and $40.00/hour for LPNs. We value your expertise and ensure you are compensated accordingly.

Do I need a car?

Not necessarily. Many of our client locations in inner city Calgary are accessible by transit. If you have a car that expands your opportunities, but it's not required for all positions.

Will I work with the same clients?

Yes! You won't be sent to a new client every shift. We believe in consistent care teams, you'll be matched with specific clients and build ongoing relationships with them.
